National Guard

National Guard

Our Community

The Army National Guard began on December 13, 1636, when the Massachusetts Bay Colony organized three militia regiments to defend against the growing threat of the Pequot Indians. Today, the Army National Guard continues its historic mission of providing defense for the nation.

So we see the National Guard has been around for a very long time. The Guard has served in every war the US has ever fought both wars with England, the Civil War. Sent overseas to the Philippines, the Spanish American war, all the wars with the Indians in the Wild West. Well you get the idea, and they are still fighting and dying for you and me in the Middle East and Africa.

Peace

we need the Guard

In peace time we need the Guard in cases of major crises, such as Hurricanes, Earthquakes, Tornadoes, and outbreaks of pandemics, such as we have now. IT IS NOT Martial Law to have members of your community helping people in major need.

The Guard are members of your community, the live there, work there, and raise their families. They have children in schools with your children. Yet in times of need they leave it all behind to help. They provide food, water, medical. Rescue missions during times of destruction. During times of civil unrest they can be used to help police the streets however, they are not the police.

Act as Police

Yes they can

The Posse Comitatus Act does not apply to the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard when acting in a law enforcement capacity within its own state when ordered by the governor of that state or in an adjacent state if invited by that state’s governor.
