Who am I? pt-6

Milestone Years

10 Years of Love

Who am I? pt-6 begins with my interview with the owner the supervisor for the companies counselors. I had been referred by my counselor from Arapharo House, by my friend and who was now working there as well.

Milestone at that time had 6 field offices and for the first 5 years I worked at all 6 offices. At one time I had keys to all 6 offices on my key ring. . I had learned to carry with me bus schedules in my briefcase along with everything else that I had in there which I will talk about in a few paragraphs.

Daily work

What it was like working at Milestone

Who am I? pt-6> I was a primary counselor with a CAC II certification, I was level III qualified twice. I was rejected by ADAD for lacking a half hour of training time. The second time I just could not get the $110.00 needed for the upgrade. My groups consisted of mostly DUI and Drug Court clients. I did have a few others Social Services, employer and self referrals. I facilitated 6-7 groups a week.

Working at Milestone was unlike any other job I had ever had, cooking or counseling, before or since. I loved that job. The owner was a unique lady. The times I screwed up and that was often she would call me into her office and give me the lecture. She had a talent for disciplining, me at least. She could chew me out royally and I would walk out of her office feeling good about who I was as an individual and a human. However, I knew I had done something seriously wrong.

It rook 5 years however, I soon had my own office, way down in Centennial. I was for the most part alone in the office once in a while I would get an officemate. I really had that office set up for just me. Three coffee pots once to use and two spares. Everything within a hand reach, candy in the drawer. Files were easy to get both for intakes and charting. I typed my notes on Sundays at home, don’t tell anyone that was/is against the rules, and did my filing in Mondays in the office,

The End Pt-6

Of my life at Milestone

Who am I? pt-6> It was to start in 2003, with my first heart attack, though I was not to realize it for another two years with me second heart attack. I was just doing my job and having fun at it. Counseling is a part of my DNA to this day. I would go back in a second if I could. I was being pressed by my family in California to move due to my health problems. Doctors were suggesting that I go. I could see things were changing at work and it was not as fun as it use to be, I had been there close to 10 years when I made the decision go move back to California. I retired on February 27th 2006, and flew to California on March 8th 2006.
