Who am I
Can I really write 300 words about me
The real question is “Who Am I” I. Can I write about me and why should I? What do you want to know and what would the reason you would like to know about me? Well here it goes my first real attempt at an Autobiography. I hope this does not come back to haunt me.
This is the real me!
Yes it is me
I was born in 1950 in the high country of the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. It was a rough childhood for us as we were poor and it was hard in other ways, what it was does not matter. My parents divorced in 1961. sent to live with my father in Northern California. Following a fight with my father I moved in with my Grandmother in my home town.
HOME
I love this place
If you recognize this place drop me a line here. I was to live in that shack for 5 years alone without adult supervision. Having a job, going to school and partying every night. beginning my career in restaurants where I spent the next 27 years. Drinking, sex, music, working, school, everyday took it’s toll on me. Some thing had to give.
Who Am I
Good question
It all came to a head in January of 1969, I went to school that morning with my usual 1/2 pint of Vodka in my boot. After standing up the glass bottle fell to the cement floor, shattering. The teacher was your stereotypical English teacher. She pointed out the door to send me to the Superintendent office. Well walking out the classroom door if you turned right it lead to the Superintendents office, left went out the door.
I went left and vowing never to return to school. I was in my senior years of High School. In May of that year I left my home town never to live there again, altho I have visited it several times. I moved to Glenwood Springs where my two sisters and birth mother lived. I wass to live there for the next 20 years.
The next part of my life.
20 years of something part hell part heaven
Moving to where I had family was a good idea. Attempting to complete High School, it was a bad idea, bullied the whole time. Quitting again I took a full time job in a local hotel kitchen, my Mother found for me a place to live. I settled in for a long (I had hoped anyway), career as a cook.. Leaving my home town my car was repossessed, becasse the co-signer removed his name from my loan on the it. Receiving that letter from Uncle Sam, “Greetings: you are hereby ordered to report for induction in the military”.
US Army
My Time in Hell
Yes my time in hell. I was deployed to Korea for 13 months. I was in 3 different compounds one was Commanding Generals mess hall, ( his personal chef). , Getting drunk with the IG, I was “reassigned”. To “B” Company 2nd Engineer Battalion. “Other” duties that I can’t go in to here or any place it involved combat.
I was sent back stateside to Fort Knox Ky. Where I was again head cook and assistant Mess Sergeant. I was in a Basic Training Unit. There for the rest of my time in the Army and honorably discharged in May of 1973. Returning to Glenwood Springs I took my old job back at a local hotel as lead cook.
Daily Life
The same thing!
I was to spend from 1973 to 1978 Working, drinking, chasing women, ( not real successfully). Being a good cook and worker ( when sober). I was always able to find a job. I left Glenwood several times looking for something I have yet to have real happiness. always ending back in Glenwood. The one one thing that I had to suffer was being raped by a cousin in 1976 in our home town. The rest of my time I worked drinking after work everyday I did manage to get myself arrested 3 times for DUI from 1972, 1976, 1988. In 1977 I met a woman who I fell head over heels in love with and would marry in 1978.
